Thanks to the ever-cheerful and adventurous "buggirl1975" for making all the arrangements Outer Island Expeditions. Shout outs to Captain Jim and Katie for taking such good care of us through a beautiful day at sea.

Plenty of wildlife was spotted, and some extreme geocaches were found. An awesome way to spend a Saturday.

Today in #geocaching - the thrill of the hunt, the suspense of the search, and the delight of the find!

Lucky us, we were doing some tasks online when we saw a cache published a short drive from home... but it was a mystery cache! That means it was a puzzle we had to solve in order to get the final coordinates!
We worked together to solve it and then into the Wolverine (our Jeep Rubicon).
Made our way to GZ and then Mr Monkey made the find. And once we opened the logsheet, there were no signatures so...

...we scored an FTF (First to Find)! Being the first to find a newly published geocache is an exciting part of the game of @geocaching

The first signs that it's going to be a great day.

The first signs that it's going to be a great day... sunrise over McGregor Lake was serene and satisfying. It's a great way to kick off Canada Day - even if we weren't in Canada!

After breakfast (and coffee) and packing up the campsite, we enjoyed a long day of #geocaching #travel #adventures making our way back home in time to listen to the distant fireworks and wish you all a Happy Canada Day!

Scenes from a Saturday well spent #geocaching around Metro Vancouver.
Some crazy things happen when you just get outside and are open to #adventure

We were walking an urban forest trail towards a #geocache when I heard a CRASH in the underbrush beside me that made me JUMP! I took a few steps away, and turned around to see what was going on. Turns out three racoon kits were trying to climb this cottonwood and they'd get a point where their little legs got shaky and they'd lose their grip and drop into the underbrush, only to attempt again. I didn't have the Canon R10 on me for that walk, but captured this guy looking apprehensive with my phone before we moved along to give them space and let them learn.
(We found the geocache as well.)

A little later we had stopped near a field of daisies overlooking the Fraser River in our search for a particularly sneaky geocache. I paused in the search to take this photo, only to have Laura uncover the cache I was basically standing on. Wow, that one really blended in and kudos to #geocacher GeoNavPro for a good hide!

Water and a hat were essential as it was a full day of hiking 500m+ elevation changes and kilometers of paths and roads on a sunny day that put our Vessi shoes to the test! GPSr for findng those geocaches (we found several cache types!) and of course the video and camera kit so that we could share the misadventures with you!
Yeah, I said "misadventures" because things didn't exactly go to plan, but hey, that's what makes for bigger memories! We spent quite a bit of time and energy exploring a trail that took us in totally the wrong direction (and a lot of elevation loss to recover). We also had to descend a slick dirt path using ropes to keep our balance, and then cross a couple of creeks without bridges. But all of that effort resulted in seeing some amazing spots in this beautiful place!

An amazing stop somewhere in #arizona along the side of the highway on our way back from a fun visit to the Four Corners Monument with our #geocacheroadtrip crew!

Golden hour was settling in nicely, and we begged our driver to give us a few minutes to snap a few pics before the moment was gone. This geomorphology of Arizona is breathtaking! What an unexpected fun addition to our #geowoodstock XX adventures!

Today in #geocaching - scenes from an awesome weekend with friends exploring Wallace Island.
It's a BC Parks island nestled in the middle of the Southern Gulf Islands and only accessible by boat.
Or submarine. Or float plane. Or exceptional swimming skills.

Did we find #geocaches ? Sure did. It was a wonderful way to enjoy a memorable anniversary weekend, made extra special by our friends @golandsharkz who brought us to Ganges on Saltspring Island and then Wallace Island.

It was a weekend to remember with breathtaking sunset and great spots to find and enjoy with great friends.
